Cookies nightclub does it right every Tuesday & Thursday night in true Berlin nightlife style. [Read the Nightclub & Bar Review]
Nightclub & Bar Review
Emerging fifteen years ago as a weekly party alternating between various venues, all the way through to its current fixed location in central Mitte, Cookies is a staple in the Berlin nightclub scene.
And for good reason; The venue is beautifully adorned, both in furnishings and sound tech, its resident DJs are some of the best in the game, and it consistently attracts a savvy, attractive crowd. But most importantly, Cookies is always high-octane. The fact that it's only open 2 to 3 nights a week ultimately means that when it's on, it is on.
The music is impossibly loud and spread over two rooms; an intimate, mood-lit space for those fans of Hip Hop, Indie and Electro, and a larger, chandelier embellished room which sets the scene for some House insanity. The lights bouncing off the reflective surfaces, the ornate dividers offering views into nooks and crannies awash with revellers taking time out on sumptuous velvet couches, and of course the sheer volume… Seriously, don't bother trying to have a conversation in here, not that a hookup is off the cards. This nightlife crowd is as seductive and flirtatious as they come.
And don't bother trying to take photos here, either. Cookies comes from an underground mentality, and remains firmly steeped in that vein. Like other Berlin nightclubs of its calibre, you come to Cookies to party, not to take photos and placard them over Facebook like "look, I visited a really cool club which was hard to find, but I found it".
Take note; It is located on the corner of Friedrichstrasse and Unter Den Linden, and is behind the Westin Grand Hotel. I must have walked up and down that block ten times, unaware that such an energetic, uplifting party was just behind a couple of unassuming velvet ropes and a door into a destitute alleyway. Sound-proofed or what? So enjoy that silence while you can, because once you walk inside it is the beginning of the end… At least for this Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday night.
