Nightclub & Bar Review

So small you might miss it, and so far off the mainstream radar that it possesses a confident layer of cool, Cellar Door is one of the hidden gems of the London nightlife scene that occupies a storied (and tiny) venue right next to the Lyceum Theatre. Formerly a public toilet (seriously - they’ve done an amazing job and converted it into a very cool little joint with a lot of character), Cellar Door packs great cocktails, great music and a super-high energy into a tiny bundle of awesome.

The interior is super-intimate, but that just adds to the vibe that you’ve found a secret little place very few people know exists. Florid lipstick-red walls and ceilings hover above cool mauve booths and teeny tables with high stools, and the whole style is modern with just a hint of jazz-smoked Art Deco. Live musicians occasionally perform mild burlesque and cabaret-influenced acts, while a cool feature is the ‘text jukebox’ - before the live shows begin you can text in songs you want to hear and they’ll pop it on - a bit of a novelty but definitely fun.

The cocktails here are also a standout, and Cellar Door’s selection of mixes range from top-notch classics through to some cheeky originals. The staff are great, really know their stuff and are more than happy to whip you up something on the spot based upon the kind of flavours you like. They also have a great selection of imported beers, and if you turn up early the reasonable prices are even more generous. Cellar Door has a unique character and has really carved out a niche of its own - you can expect a more sophisticated, slightly older crowd (late 20’s / early 30’s) and some really lavish fashions in a classic style. This is a great inner city spot with a lot of character.
